Q. What kind of materials do you use?
A. Depending on the desired theme and location, Amaze’n Mazes may be built from wood, plastic or other materials. Mazes are usually installed on asphalt or concrete. They are built for easy setup and tear down with changeable pathways that are simple to rearrange.
Q. How much space does a maze require?
A. Amaze’n Mazes range in size from 4,600 to 10,000 square feet.
Q. What are the demographics?
A. The majority of mazes runners are families with two or three kids. Mazes are very popular with Tweeners and have a similar demographic to miniature golf courses. Mazes can greatly enhance profits for existing facilities, and work extremely well paired with miniature golf courses because the whole family can participate.
Q. How do mazes work?
A. As individuals or teams enter the maze, the starting time is punched on their maze passport. Once inside the maze they must locate four checkpoints where they stamp a letter to spell the word M A Z E. When they exit the maze, the finish time is stamped on their passport. Prizes are awarded to people who successfully complete the maze within a specified time.
Q. How much does an Amaze'n Maze cost?
A. We can construct a 4,600 square foot maze -- complete with observation deck, two elevated checkpoints, and operating components -- for approximately $70,500 utilizing an existing concrete or asphalt surface. Very few attractions have as low initial cost, simplicity of operation, or broad appeal -- and yet can result in 40% to 50% profit -- as Amaze'n Mazes. The Maze has minimal liability exposure and very low maintenance. Operating expenses range from $75 to $100 per day, depending on wages, etc.

Q. How can a Maze help attract holiday business?
Mazes can easily be converted for holidays: a haunted Halloween maze, a Christmas maze with Santa, or an Easter Egg Hunt maze. This is a sure way to generate additional off-season revenue. Mazes make great team building exercises for groups. Or add squirt guns for a wet/dry summer attraction. Our plastic wall panels allows you to easily change the course to keep customers coming back for more.
Q. Who is Amaze'n Mazes?
A. Amaze Ventures, Inc. began in Winter Park, Colo., in 1988 with an indoor family fun center. The fun center included a small maze along with a restaurant, arcade and miniature golf course. Inspired by the maze’s popularity and unlimited potential, Greg Gallavan decided he wanted to design and sell outdoor mazes. Two years later he installed his first giant maze in Breckenridge, Colo. At 10,000 square feet, Amaze’n Breckenridge was the largest outdoor maze in the state.
Until 1996, mazes were typically made of wood until Gallavan developed plastic panels for a maze he installed in Steamboat Springs, Colo. The lightweight panels were more durable than wood and could be customized with different colors and logos. One year later, Gallavan introduced his first all-plastic maze.
In 1999, Gallavan added a new element to the maze experience -- squirt guns. Then in 2002, he installed his first major theme park maze at Wild Adventures in Valdosta, Ga. Today Gallavan has installed 30 Amaze’n Mazes in the United States, Canada and Spain.
